REVIEW: The Inkey List Niacinamide Serum
For the past couple months, I have been using and trying out the Niacinamide serum from The Inkey List and I am currently 2/3 of my way through my second bottle.
Before this serum, I used the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% serum by The Ordinary, which was my first time using a serum let alone niacinamide as a treatment.
Due to my skin settling on a combination skin type over the past few years, I have been aware of the appearance of my pores on my nose and inner cheek area seeming rather large and in charge, and after some extensive research during the beginning of my skincare journey I found the wonder ingredient that is niacinamide.
Not only is niacinamide recommended by many dermatologists and estheticians alike, it is also an ingredient that is truly loved by my two favourite skincare YouTubers Skincare by Hyram and James Welsh. Both influencers have been known to rave about niacinamide as an ingredient in toners, moisturisers, serums, and eye creams to name a few.
When using the serum by The Ordinary I found it to be rather tacky on my skin, due to this being my first experience with the ingredient I knew little about the texture of the product first hand. However, when I decided to buy the serum by The Inkey List, I found that the residual tack of the Ordinary product was not present when using the Inkey List product, instead I found it to have a slick water-like consistency when first applied which then is absorbed and leaves the skin feeling moisturised and smooth instead of sticky.
The positives:
- It is affordable
- The ingredient list is simple yet affective
- Consistency is like thick water
- Packaging is simplistic yet durable
- It is absorbed into the skin quickly so there is no tackiness left behind
- Due to the product being so affordable it seems to almost always be out of stock
- The bottle is 30ml so I find that I go through the product rather quickly as I use it twice a day
- Due to the packaging being white plastic you cannot see how much product you have left
